A New Beginning for the Legacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine: KPU’s Inaugural Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Class Graduates and the Shen Nong Scholarship Is Awarded for the First Time


In 2026, traditional Chinese medicine education in Canada reached a milestone—the first cohort of 26 students officially graduated from the Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BTCM) program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). As Canada’s first Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine degree program offered and awarded by a public university, the graduation of this inaugural class also marks a pioneering chapter in the integration of traditional Chinese medicine into Canada’s formal higher education system.


KPU’s TCM program spans 10 semesters and combines systematic theoretical study with clinical practice, training students in acupuncture and other related treatment techniques, as well as the preparation and application of Chinese herbal medicines and herbal formulas.
